Lightning discharges are depicted graphically using data from the North American Precision Lightning Network (NAPLN) and the WorldWide Lightning Network (WWLN). The networks include cloud-to-ground as well as in-cloud, cloud-to-cloud, and cloud-to-air discharges.
Lightning maps include all lightning strikes over the past 10-minute period.
