GPS Information

To upload/download GPS data:

AvMap EKP IV

• Max routes in the GPS are limited to 10 of up to 100 legs each.

• AvMap software v1.10.44R is required in order to export the track points into FliteStar.

• When importing routes into FliteStar, the only route sent is the active route. You will need to set the active route in AvMap and import the routes individually.

• Route waypoints imported into AvMap are entered as user-defined waypoints.

Turn off NMEA output (default setting is off):

1. Press Menu until you get to the Main Menu screen.

2. Select Communication and press Enter.

3. Select NMEA OUTPUT and press Enter.

4. Select OFF and press Enter.

Garmin 496

• Max routes in the GPS are limited to 50.

• Max user waypoints per route in the GPS are limited to 3000.

Garmin computes route distance differently than FliteStar, so you may notice small differences over long routes.

Set the GPS interface:

1. From the Main Menu, select the Setup icon.

2. Select Interface tab.

3. Set the Serial Data Format to Garmin Data Transfer, and Transfer Mode to Host.

Garmin 396

• Max routes in the GPS are limited to 50.

• Max user waypoints per route in the GPS are limited to 3000.

• If waypoints are dropped in the FS>396 transfer, store the route again.

Set the GPS interface:

1. From the Main Menu, select the Setup icon and press Enter.

2. Select Interface, and press Enter.

3. Set the Serial Data Format to Garmin Data Transfer.

Garmin 96 and 96C

• Max routes in the GPS are limited to 50.

• Max user waypoints per route in the GPS are limited to 250.

Set the GPS interface:

1. From the Main Menu, select the Setup icon and press Enter.

2. Select Interface, and press Enter.

3. Set the Serial Data Format to Garmin.

Garmin 296

• Max routes in the GPS are limited to 50.

• Max user waypoints per route in the GPS are limited to 300.

Set the GPS interface:

1. From the Main Menu, select the Setup icon and press Enter.

2. Select Interface, and press Enter.

3. Set the Serial Data Format to Garmin.

Garmin GPSMAP 195

• Set GPS Baud Rate to 9600

• Max routes in the GPS are limited to 20.

• Max user waypoints in the GPS are limited to 250.

• Max waypoint name length is limited to 6 characters.

Set the GPS data transfer mode:

1. Press Menu twice to get to the Main Menu

2. Choose Setup Menu (with the "Edit/Enter" button).

3. Choose Input/Output.

4. Set Input/Output Format to Data Transfer.

5. Set Transfer Mode to Slave Mode.

Garmin 95

• Set GPS Baud Rate to 9600

• Max routes in the GPS are limited to 20.

• Max Waypoints per route: 30

• Max user waypoints: 500

• Max waypoint name length is limited to 6 characters.

• Routes have no names.

Set the GPS Input/Output mode:

1. Press the Menu softkey.

2. Choose Interface,

3. Choose Input/Output.

4. Choose Garmin/Garmin Host settings.

Garmin GPS III

• Set GPS Baud Rate to 9600

• Max routes: 20

• Max waypoint name length is limited to 6 characters.

Set the GPS data transfer mode:

1. Press Menu twice to get to Main Menu.

2. Choose Setup Menu.

3. Choose Interface tab.

4. Set "Format" to Garmin.

5. Set Transfer Mode to Host.

Magellan Meridian XL

• Set GPS Baud Rate to 9600

• Max routes: 5

• Max waypoint name length: 5 chars

• Some units do not have route names.

Turn off NMEA output:

1. Menu key, choose Setup.

2. Choose NMEA from Menu.

3. Set to OFF.

II Morrow Apollo Precedus

• Set GPS Baud Rate to 19200

• Max routes: 20

• Max waypoints per route: 30

• Max user waypoints: 1000

• Max waypoint name length: 6

• Routes do not have names.

Turn off the Serial Output Mode:

1. Press Menu button.

2. Select System Setup.

3. Set Serial I/O to None.

Lowrance Airmap

• Set GPS Baud Rate to 9600

• Max routes: 20

• Max waypoints per route: 99

• Max user waypoints: 250

• Max waypoint name length: 13

Turn off NMEA output:

1. Press Menu button

2. Select System Setup.

3. Choose NMEA/DGPS Config.

4. Set NMEA OUT to OFF.

Set baud to 9600:

1. Press Menu button.

2. Select System Setup.

3. Choose SERIAL COM SETUP.

4. Select Baud Rate 9600.

Eagle Expedition

• Set GPS Baud Rate to 9600

• Max routes: 50

• Max waypoints per route: 99

• Max user waypoints: 750

• Max waypoint name length: 13

To turn off NMEA output:

1. Press Menu button.

2. Select System Setup.

3. Choose NMEA/DGPS Config.

4. Set NMEA OUT to OFF.

To set baud to 9600:

1. Press Menu button.

2. Select System Setup.

3. Choose COM PORT SETUP.

4. Select Baud Rate 9600.
