Track File

A track file is a record of latitude and longitude points recorded at specific intervals along your actual path of travel. If your GPS is set up to record track files, track files can be loaded from the GPS into FliteStar.

The track file contains date, position, course, and ground speed for each point received from the GPS. A summary of the time is also saved to the track file, as well as notes for any user-defined waypoints you have dropped at specific locations along the route.

Open or Close an Existing Track File

Click File > Open Track File to display a track file from a previous trip. To close the track file, click File > Close Track File.

Saving the Track file

FliteStar saves track files by default to one of the following folders depending on your setup and operating system:

Hide/Display Your Track

Available in FliteMap only

When the moving map is engaged, click Chart > Display Track to hide or display your current track file in the Enroute Charts View. A check mark next to Display Track in the menu indicates the track is being displayed on the screen.
