Formatting DUATS Flight Plans

DUAT and DUATS are particular about the format of flight plan information. If you have problems uploading your flight plan in FliteStar, you can do one of two things: edit the basic aircraft information stored in FliteStar, or contact DUAT/S for assistance with direct filing online. In any case, you must supply detailed information about your aircraft.

Editing Basic Aircraft Information Stored in FliteStar

To edit basic aircraft information, click Edit > Default Aircraft. Select an aircraft in the Aircraft Library Manager dialog box, and then click Edit. See Basic Aircraft Data for additional information.

Contacting DUAT/DUATS for Assistance or Online Filing

If you have problems filing a flight plan, contact DUAT/DUATS for assistance, or connect in a textual interactive session (rather than through the FliteStar command lists) to manually file the flight plan.

• Contact CSC DUATS at 1-800-345-3828 or http://www.duats.com.

Detailed Information About Your Aircraft

Whether you store information about your aircraft in FliteStar or enter it interactively in a DUAT/S session, you will need to supply the information in a particular format.

Aircraft Type (Make)

You can find the current aircraft type codes at the FAA website.

If you are logged on to DUATS/DUAT interactively, enter ?[aircraft manufacturer] (for example, ?Cessna, ?Piper, etc.) or similar request when prompted for an aircraft type and follow the instructions.

Phone Number

Your phone number must be in the correct format. If DUAT/S stops in a field where you entered a phone number, make sure the phone number was entered in the XXX-XXX-XXXX format, not ( XXX) XXX-XXXX.

Aircraft Colors

DUATS/DUAT only accepts the aircraft color codes listed below. Your electronic flight plan file will fail if you do not use the exact spellings or abbreviations shown (12 characters maximum).

Enter your aircraft’s base color first, followed by other colors. All colors should be separated by a slash ‘/’. Example:  'WHITE/BROWN' or 'W/BR'. Use either the CODE or the WORD from the following list:
