With FliteStar, you can connect your handheld GPS to the serial port of your computer and upload routes you created in FliteStar into your GPS. You can also download your GPS routes back into FliteStar, and download track files from your GPS into the program. The GPS upload feature is great when you want a backup to the laptop or don't take a computer in the airplane. The FliteStar upload/download capability supports many receivers including units by Garmin, IIMorrow, Lowrance/Eagle, Magellan, Northstar and Trimble.

Use the advanced route planning features of FliteStar to create a route, and then load that route into your GPS. Storing routes from FliteStar into your GPS saves you the large number of GPS keystrokes normally needed to enter a route. Additionally, you do not need a database in your GPS; the waypoints are added using the latitude and longitude from FliteStar.
Load a route from your GPS into FliteStar to view and edit the route from within FliteStar. The revised route can be uploaded back into your GPS after you have made changes.
Your GPS stores a track file of flight paths that can be downloaded from the GPS into FliteStar. You don’ t need to take FliteStar and your computer in the aircraft to record your track. Loading a track file from your GPS into FliteStar allows you to overlay your flight path on the FliteStar chart. The track is stored as a text file, allowing you access track information in other applications as well.
Not all GPS units support the ability to upload and download route information or track files. Generally, non-certified handheld units from the following manufacturers are supported in FliteStar:
AvMap
Furuno
Garmin
II Morrow
Lowrance/Eagle
Magellan
Northstar
Bendix/King Skyforce
Trimble
Some certified units allow download of routes and track files, but not upload of routes.
