Flight plans are filed using your CSC DUATS or DTC DUAT service. For information about creating an account, see Setting Up Accounts.
Upload a flight plan to DUAT/S from the File Flight Plan button on the Weather toolbar or with the DUATS Controller in the Weather tab.
To file a route planned in FliteStar, select the route in the RoutePack List.
In the Weather toolbar click the File Flight Plan button to open the flight plan form. To select the FAA or the ICAO flight plan form, click the drop-down arrow on the right side of the button. FliteStar remembers your last selection.
NOTE | If you have not used this button before, select your DUAT/S provider and enter the user name and password for that account to proceed. |
Check the flight information and make any edits before clicking OK.
When you are ready to submit the flight plan, click OK. FliteStar moves to the Weather tab so you can see the interaction with DUAT/S in case there is an error in the transmission.
To file a route planned in FliteStar, select the route in the RoutePack List. If you have not planned a route, the flight plan form opens without any information filled in.
Display the DUATS Controller:
Click the Weather tab.
Click View > DUATS Controller.
Select one of the DUAT/S weather providers.
Double-click File FAA Flight Plan or select File FAA Flight Plan, and then click Add.
For more information on the DUATS Controller, see Getting a Briefing.
If you selected a route, the information is already filled in based on the planned route in FliteStar. If you created a RoutePack with multiple routes, "File FAA Flight Plan" for each route in the RoutePack.
Edit any information as needed before submitting the flight plan to DUAT/S.
NOTE | If you fly VFR but have to file an IFR-like flight plan to fly into, out of, or through an ADIZ, ensure that the cruising altitude uses the format VFR/altitude. 5000 feet is entered as 050, 11000 feet is entered as 110 (example: VFR/050, VFR/110). To change the format, we recommend that you change it in the Flight Plan. |
When you are ready to submit the flight plan, click OK to add the File FAA Flight Plan script to the Script Commands section.
When you have added all the flight plans you want to file, click Connect.
DUAT/S is restrictive about the acceptable format of data uploaded in a flight plan. If you have problems uploading your flight plan in FliteStar, look at where DUAT/S stops and prompts you to enter something. Your aircraft model and color must be values that DUAT/S accepts. See Formatting DUATS Flight plans for lists of accepted codes and additional information on flight plan formats, or go directly to either provider website, www.duat.com or www.duats.com.
If, after adding File FAA Flight Plan to the Script Commands, you want to make further changes, double-click File FAA Flight Plan in the Script Commands window on the right to reopen the flight plan form for further editing.
To file another flight plan, select a different route in the Enroute Charts view or RoutePack List. The destination, departure, and other information for the new route appear in the flight plan fields.
To file an ICAO flight plan:
Click File ICAO Flight Plan from the DUATS Command List.
Fill out the ICAO form.
Click OK.
To cancel a flight plan:
Click Cancel Flight Plan from the Weather Types list, and then click Add.
Enter the registration number of the aircraft for which you wish to cancel.
Click Connect.
FliteStar connects to DUATS and switches you to interactive mode (see Connecting Interactively for more help).
DUAT/S shows you the flight plan information and asks you to confirm cancellation.
Enter Y if this is the flight plan you wish to cancel.
