Connection Setup

FliteStar supports text and graphic downloads from CSC DUATS, DTC DUAT, and the Jeppesen Weather Service. All weather downloads require an Internet connection to a weather service provider.

The Connection Setup dialog is where you set the default provider, modem, Internet address, and two preferences related to downloaded weather files.

Open the weather Connection Setup dialog from the Weather menu or the DUATS Controller.

Setting a Default Provider

Select your weather service provider in the Connection Type drop-down list. FliteStar uses this selection in the Route Wizard for obtaining winds and temps. The Weather toolbar Retrieve WX Briefing and File Flight Plan buttons also use this setting.

IP Address Settings

When you select a weather provider for the first time, FliteStar fills in the IP address or modem information for that provider. If the connection information is not automatically filled in, use the following links to add or correct these settings:

CSC DUATS and DTC DUAT broadband (cable, DSL, and so on)

CSC DUATS and DTC DUAT modem

Jeppesen Weather Service

Font Size

Choose a smaller font if the line wrap makes the downloaded text hard to read.

Weather Storage Housekeeping

FliteStar automatically deletes weather files after the number of days specified at the bottom of the Connection Setup dialog box. If you want these files to remain on your hard drive indefinitely, set the numbers to zero or copy them periodically to another directory.
